At a press conference on the 25th November 2010, the formation of the United Left Alliance (ULA) was announced. The ULA brought together the Socialist Party, People Before Profit, Workers and Unemployed Action Group, and other independent leftists under a single electoral alliance.
Their “Building a Real Political Alternative” document shortly afterwards had these demands:
- End the bailout of banks and developers.
- Tax the greedy not the needy
- End the jobs crisis
- Reverse the cuts – Defend public services
- Equality for all
- Protect the environment
- Build a real left alternative in Ireland and Europe
