Commentary From The Cedar Lounge Revolution

Many thanks to the person who forwarded this to the Archive, among a number of leaflets from Ronald Reagan’s visit to Ireland in 1984.

This Labour Youth Campaign Against Reagan leaflet notes:

Reagan and the system he represents has put 10 million Americans on the dole, while 32 milllion live in poverty. The same parasites who are responsible for 214,000 unemployed In this country • big business, Fine Gael, Fianna Fall – welcome Reagan. Labour Youth is opposed to the visit and all that Reagan stands for.

And argues:

A Good Reception for Reagan.

Whether in Ireland or America, the capitalist system which Reagan represents can only offer youth unemployment, poverty and the threat of nuclear annihilation. Let’s give Reagan the welcome he deserves. All workers and youth must join the protests which have been organised. But don’t stop there, Join Labour Youth, fight for socialism and end Reagan’s rotten system altogether.
