Many thanks to Andy Snoddy for scanning and forwarding this and a range of other documents to the Archive which we will be posting up over the following months.
As noted previously:
The Connolly Youth Movement (CYM) (Irish: Ógra Uí Chonghaile) is an all-Ireland youth organisation affiliated to the Communist Party of Ireland but which is also independent and organises separately from the CPI. Internationally the Connolly Youth Movement is affiliated to the World Federation of Democratic Youth. The CYM includes young activists from many different political backgrounds who are in opposition to imperialism and to the capitalist system in Ireland and throughout the world.
This document in a short four pages outlines the Policies of the CYM, examines Youth Unemployment, Repression and argues that there is No Future in Northern Ireland.
‘There is nothing to do, nowhere to go, violence on our streets and mass unemployment amongst our young people. In fact NI is a total and utter mess and our parents generation have done almost nothing to remedy this situation.
It outlines the choices available; Do Nothing! or, Join the CYM and suggests that ‘The CYM is Ireland’s young communist organisation, NI’s only non-sectarian, political, youth organisation, with members coming from both sides of the community.
And it concludes with the slogan:
You better decide which side you’re on because left is right – and right is wrong!
